    Hi Toneranger,

    Thanks for the URL. I've just email Bert. Hope to get his reply soon!

    What I'm using now is a very low gain amplifier, a #31 driving a #45/2A3. I've got a 1:4 step-up input transformer installed too.

    After doing AB comparisons, I don't really like the step-up, it sounds kinda harsh. Perhaps the input impedance of only 1.2k is too low for my CD player.
